Canadian drivers will shell out an extra $53.8 billion in fuel costs, and additional “climate change-induced global damages” will hit $94.2 billion, as a result of the Carney government’s decision to repeal the federal Electric Vehicle Availability Standard while delaying implementation of more stringent rules for vehicle tailpipe emissions, the government calculated in a Canada Gazette notice announced Friday.
