Microsoft and U.S. Tech Firms Blocking Our Newsletter – How to Keep Receiving It

You might have trouble receiving our newsletters. Microsoft email systems (such as @ hotmail and @ live and @ msn) are blocking our eNewsletters and we’ve had intermittent trouble contacting Gmail addresses as well. We don’t know entirely why and we’ve tried contacting both companies to no avail.

If you appreciate these newsletters, here are a few ways to make sure you still receive them:

• Consider setting up a new or alternative email that is NOT reliant on a U.S. tech company and update your email with us: Friend of our podcast, Paris Marx has been sounding the alarm on individual digital sovereignty in Canada and our over-reliance on U.S. technology companies. Paris has a guide for you in finding alternate email providers and digital systems – not based in the U.S. – here. You can also listen to our podcast with Paris on this issue here. If you decided to do this make sure you update your email with us by contacting us communication@sierraclub.ca BUT if you don’t hear from us confirming the change you can phone by calling us at 613-241-4611 // 1-888-810-4204.
• Check your spam folder for our previous emails and mark them as ‘not spam’: We sent previous newsletters to you on the following dates: February 19th, February 13th, and February 3rd. If they were sent to your spam folder then marking them as ‘not spam’ can help address deliverability to you.
• Talk to other supporters of Sierra Club Canada you know and mention what is happening: We don’t know how many people this newsletter will reach. So if you know of other Sierra Club Canada supporters who might have been affected let them know.
• You can let us know your phone number as a backup (you can let us know only to call you if absolutely necessary).
• Finally, we send this newsletter once a week. It’s possible we might skip a week here or there but if you haven’t heard from us or seen a newsletter in over three weeks contact us at communications@sierraclub.ca or, if you don’t hear back, 613-241-4611 // 1-888-810-4204.
