The $1-billion New England Clean Energy Connect transmission project, developed by Spanish energy company Avangrid, is up and running as of last week. The project includes 145 miles of new high-voltage direct current transmission from the Maine–Quebec border to a converter station in Lewiston, Maine, where it can interconnect with the New England grid.
